CROSSWORD CHALLENGE isn’t just another crossword puzzle!
This activity requires students to write clues for the answers and crossword they are given! They then swap with their partner and try to complete each other’s crossword! There is structured peer-to-peer feedback, and this will also happen naturally as students help each other understand and improve the clues in the game.
This game tests understanding of keywords across the Cell Biology topic. It is written using the AQA specification for GCSE Biology Grades 9-1.
This resource includes:
- Crossword Challenge Sheets x2 – 1 for each person in the pair (they are different crosswords!)
- Colour and Grayscale versions for printing and supporting students with different needs
- Guidance for teachers – printing, how to use this resource, etc.
- T&Cs
Students enjoy the challenge of creating their own clues and then having another student attempt to complete the crossword using their clues – the active nature of this activity ensures that ALL students are involved & engaged. There is an extension for students that finish early, included in the Crossword Challenge Sheets.
