TABOO with a twist – Homeostasis & Response game

This game of Taboo with a twist will help your students revise the Homeostasis & Response Topic from GCSE Biology and Combined Science. It is written for the new 9-1 AQA specification (2016).

There are 2 versions of the game to cover Combined Science and Biology Only (Triple) so your students are revising the content they need to know.

This resource includes:

• 2 sets of Taboo cards (48 in total): 1 set for Combined Science (with the Higher content labelled) and 1 set for Biology Only
• Rules
• Guidance for teachers (printing, recommendations, etc.)
• 3 bonus ways to use this resource in lessons (besides playing the Taboo game itself!)

I’ve included an optional Taboo word to allow you to extend the difficulty of the game and I’ve also included Picture Hints to support students and add a visual element to the game. These twists allow for easy differentiation and more fun!

I’ve mentioned it in the teacher guidance, but I really recommend demonstrating how to play the game! By doing an example (or two!) students will find it easy to play TABOO with a twist.

Students love playing this game! It allows them to think creatively while cementing keywords for the Homeostasis & Response topic. My bonus suggestions of other ways to use this game will maximise the learning of your students & make the most of this resource.
